European project launched to support tourism cooperation in the Black Sea basin



Business Consulting Institute starts a cross-border project aiming to increase cooperation through tourism projects and to create business opportunities in the Black Sea region.


The project "Black Sea Network for Sustainable Tourism – Strategies for joint tourism marketing and development in the Black Sea Region (BS NST)" is developed jointly with partners from Georgia (Tourism Department of Adjaria and IBDIPC), Bulgaria (Burgas Municipality), Turkey (Trabzon Regional Development Agency) and Ukraine (Odessa Regional Development Agency) . The total budget is 497 000 Euro. The project started in January 2014 and will last 18 months.


Project partners will work together to address specific problems of tourism in the Black Sea region, to improve the ability of the region to plan, coordinate and implement joint marketing strategies. Initiatives will be launched for the joint development of tourist destinations in the Black Sea countries. There will be created a strong cooperation network, with a common agenda for sustainable tourism development in the Black Sea basin, with training and experience exchange between parties. 


The project will organize 16 workshops, 8 round tables, 20 study visits and 8 trainings; these activities will increase the capacity to create public-private partnerships in cross-border tourism. There will be developed 4 strategies for cooperation in cross-border tourism, feasibility studies for tourist destinations, 6 specialized marketing researches; there will also be created a functional IT platform, with a database for the promotion of at least 10 tourist destinations from each partner country.    


These will be presented at the exhibitions and forums organized by the partners, where new cross-border partnerships will be established.   


As a result of this iniatiative, up to 50 bodies will be involved in cooperation projects, supporting partnership, experience exchange and tourism cooperation networks in the Black Sea countries. It will generate a continuous social and cultural exchange. Joint promotional events and awareness campaigns for environment protection will come off.


The activities will run until July 2015.
