Study visit to Poland. Polish-German cooperation in European cross-border projects



Local authorities and non-governmental institutions from Moldova had the opportunity to participate, during 14-19 September, to a study visit to the Polish-German cross-border region. The activities were carried out within the project “Training for the local communities in the Republic of Moldova for the efficient use of funds provided by the European programmes of cross-border cooperation”. The project is financially supported by the Polish Assistance and is implemented by Business Consulting Institute and The Polish-Ukrainian Cooperation Foundation - PAUCI (Poland).


The purpose of the study visit was to learn from the Polish experience in attiring European funds and project implementation. 


The visit began in Zielona Gora. The guests were acquainted with the results of the project „Reviving historic parks in the Central Europe, the Park Piastowski and the Park Branitzer”.


During the next days the delegation visited several Polish cities. Nova Sul has implemented the project „The Oder for tourists - development of water tourism in the cross-border region. The medium valley of the Oder River”. The condition of the river valley was improved, there were built a seafront and a barrage – to avoid floods, there were built a small port for the boat owners and two ships for the tourists. Also in Nova Sul they visited a park with the tallest elves in the world, which exceed 5 meters and are in the Guinness Book of Records.

 

The employees of the Science and Technology Park of Novii Kiselin brought up in discussion green energy, talking about the electric bus to be built and to use renewable energy.

 

Slubice offered the example of a Polish-German kindergarten renovated under the project „Education without borders – creating infrastructure in the Polish-German preschool education system”.

 

Szczecin implements the project „Participation of citizens in waste recycling” and has a collection point for waste sorted by citizens. In its Sanitary-Epidemiological Station there were discussed food hygiene and safety in the Baltic Region.

 

The delegation also went to the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) and the Regional Rescue Centre of Vitnita, which relies on volunteer work.
