Environmental protection measures in the context of sustainable development were discussed at a national conference hosted by UNDP and Sweden<\/strong><\/p>\n

The event was organized by the UNDP project \"Climate Resilient Communities through Women's Empowerment\", with the financial assistance of Sweden, with the aim of strengthening the capacities of local public authorities (LPAs), which have a key role in the implementation of local sustainable development policies in the context of the increasing frequency and severity of extreme weather events and other climate hazards.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of the conference, Virginia B\u00eelici, Program Coordinator at the Swedish Embassy in Moldova, said:\u00a0\"Climate change affects our society and environment in many ways. We need good information and firm action to assess environmental risks, mitigate the worst consequences and plan concrete measures to adapt to the changes we cannot stop. Sweden supports the Republic of Moldova's efforts to build resilient and inclusive communities and today's event is an example\"<\/em>.<\/p>\n

About 100 mayors, representatives of the Ministry of Environment, environmental experts and representatives of environmental NGOs attended the conference and analyzed together the challenges they face in the field of environmental protection, shared best practices and sustainable solutions that can be applied in communities to increase resilience to climate change and rational use of natural resources and assessed their priorities for implementing environmental protection activities.<\/p>\n

\u201eThe Republic of Moldova is one of the most vulnerable countries in Europe in terms of climate change, and the impact of this phenomenon is being felt more and more frequently, with widespread droughts, floods and other disasters caused by rising temperatures and uneven rainfall. In this context, we are very pleased to see the increased interest on the part of LPAs to be partners in combating this phenomenon, as demonstrated by their participation in this event, but also by the projects initiated and carried out with the support of Sweden and UNDP in several areas such as waste management, renewable energy, river restoration and management, afforestation and management of degraded lands<\/em>\"said Silvia Pana-Carp, Program Coordinator, UNDP Moldova.<\/p>\n

During the conference were also presented some practical guides on environmental, climate and gender legislation and measures to protect the environment and adapt to climate change, which were developed within the UNDP project for LPAs.<\/p>\n

The project \"Climate Resilient Communities through Women's Empowerment\" contributes to the sustainable development and increased resilience to climate change of localities in the districts of Nisporeni, Calarasi, Basarabeasca, Leova, UTA Gagauzia, the security zone and Transnistrian region through the economic, social and educational empowerment of women. The project is implemented by UNDP in the period 2020 - 2023 with financial assistance from Sweden.<\/p>\n

Este nevoie de o bun\u0103 informare \u0219i ac\u021biuni ferme pentru a evalua riscurile de mediu, pentru a atenua consecin\u021bele cele mai grave \u0219i pentru a planifica m\u0103suri concrete de adaptare la schimb\u0103rile pe care nu le putem opri. Suedia sus\u021bine eforturile pe care le \u00eentreprinde Republica Moldova pentru edificarea unor comunit\u0103\u021bi reziliente \u0219i incluzive \u0219i evenimentul de ast\u0103zi este un exemplu\u201d. Aproximativ 100 de primari, reprezentan\u021bi ai Ministerului Mediului, exper\u021bi \u00een domeniul mediului \u0219i reprezentan\u021bi ai ONG-urilor de profil au participat la conferin\u021b\u0103 \u0219i au analizat \u00eempreun\u0103 provoc\u0103rile cu care se confrunt\u0103 \u00een domeniul protec\u021biei mediului, au \u00eemp\u0103rt\u0103\u0219it bunele practici \u0219i solu\u021biile durabile care pot fi aplicate \u00een comunit\u0103\u021bi \u00een vederea sporirii rezilien\u021bei la schimb\u0103rile climatice \u0219i utiliz\u0103rii ra\u021bionale a resurselor naturale \u0219i \u0219i-au evaluat priorit\u0103\u021bile pentru realizarea activit\u0103\u021bilor de protec\u021bie a mediului. \u201eRepublica Moldova este una dintre cele mai vulnerabile \u021b\u0103ri din Europa \u00een ce prive\u0219te schimb\u0103rile climatice, iar impactul acestui fenomen este resim\u021bit tot mai frecvent, prin secete extinse, viituri \u0219i alte calamit\u0103\u021bi provocate de temperaturile cresc\u00e2nde \u0219i precipita\u021biile neuniforme. \u00cen acest context, ne bucur\u0103m mult s\u0103 vedem interesul sporit din partea APL-urilor de a fi parteneri \u00een combaterea acestui fenomen, lucru demonstrat prin participarea la acest eveniment, dar \u0219i prin proiectele ini\u021biate \u0219i desf\u0103\u0219urate cu suportul Suediei \u0219i PNUD \u00een mai multe domenii, cum ar fi managementul de\u0219eurilor, energia regenerabil\u0103, restabilirea \u0219i amenajarea r\u00e2urilor, \u00eemp\u0103durirea \u0219i amenajarea terenurilor degradate\u201d, a men\u021bionat Silvia Pana-Carp, coordonatoare de programe, PNUD Moldova. \u00cen cadrul conferin\u021bei au mai fost prezentate c\u00e2teva ghiduri practice privind legisla\u021bia de mediu, clim\u0103 \u0219i gen \u0219i m\u0103surile de protec\u021bie a mediului \u00eenconjur\u0103tor \u0219i de adaptare la schimb\u0103rile climatice, care au fost elaborate \u00een cadrul proiectului PNUD, destinate APL-urilor.
